Reference targets allow you to improve the accuracy of your scans by using known target positions during optimization. This can be especially helpful when working with larger areas, or simply any time you’re looking for higher accuracy/confidence and have access to survey control data.

Make sure your targets are distributed evenly across the entire scan area for the best results.

Coordinates can be obtained from a surveying total station, a GNSS or RTK receiver, another laser scan, a drone, an existing survey map of the space, an existing 2D or 3D model, or other trusted external source. This information needs to be obtained separately and imported into Dot3D.
